Busy Blog Life: Malware and Moving Hosts 💾

Published 4 months ago • 1 min read

Oh, hi. Happy 2024. Long time no talk, but I've noticed I'm not always consistent. It's hard to show up here, but I have a few things to share. I spent quarter 4, the busiest quarter of the year, trying to fix my main website. There were times I thought that I surely lost everything.

From time to time, malware happens. In my case, my site started redirecting to weird casino links, adult links, etc., and sharing a slew of popups. What made me crazy about this whole situation was that I couldn't replicate it. A sponsor would reach out and say my site was unreachable, and I said that they must have spyware or something because my site was working on my end.

After a few weeks, it was clear I was infected with malware. I was pretty bummed that my pricey host of over 8+ years said they didn't help. I think I was more stressed than anything, and other bloggers said they had experienced similar situations. They were always referred to other services, but I just assumed that my host would at least give me some more information or another option.

However, I was pretty lucky that Lyrical Host stepped in and helped me out... Lyrical hosts my secondary websites since the pricing is affordable and they are SO helpful. I hadn't had a chance to move my main website over (and I thought surely it would be a pain with over 2,000 posts and tons of images), but when I had malware I knew it was time to see what we could do.

Not only did Lyrical Host migrate my website, but they also cleaned up the malware for free. I cried. I was so overwhelmed with how expensive blogging can be (all of these tools cost money, website domain fees, hosting, email, etc.), and when there aren't as many sponsored posts... it adds up.

If you feel discarded by your host or want a more affordable option, PLEASE check out Lyrical. I'm paying about $30 monthly to have multiple websites hosted and top-notch technical support. I am so grateful that my website was back up for the holidays so that I could complete a few critical sponsored posts.

Here's to a productive yet stress-free year of content creation. I'll be back again soon,

Krystal
